Events raise money for chapter

Fundraising for the chapter’s scholarship commitments started with a student-oriented Color Dodgeball Tournament April 12 at Purdue’s Horticulture Park, and continued May 9 with the Ryan Kerrigan/12th Boiler Golf Outing at Purdue’s Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.

The dodgeball event was staged by a student organization, Purdue Gold Standard, which has also helped to provide personnel for other NFF-related events.

Sponsoring the golf scramble was the Tiller Chapter of the NFF and Purdue’s Trademarks Licensing Office. It featured former Purdue All-American Ryan Kerrigan, now a defensive standout with the NFL’s Washington Redskins.

Many of the participants in the golf outing were vendors, retailers and licensees of Purdue University, along with several NFF chapter members. Once all the bills are paid, it is expected that these two events (dodgeball and golf) will have cleared nearly $5,000, with some of the proceeds going to the Purdue Center for Cancer Research and Dream Season while most of the funds will go for scholarships – the 12th Boiler Fund in the John Purdue Club, helping to endow a Purdue football scholarship, and the NFF Scholarship Fund for high school seniors.

The fundraising for 2014 continued with the NFF Honors Dinner as the chapter staged a raffle and silent auction, raising an additional $4,000 for the scholarship fund during that event and also engaged in selling sponsorships and program advertising, which raised more than $14,000.

And, of course, contributions to the 501 c-3 foundation are also encouraged and appreciated.
