'Tiller Time' raises fund for cancer research, scholarships

The phrase “Tiller Time” brings back fond memories for thousands of football fans throughout Big Ten Country.

“Tiller Time” took on a new meaning as former Purdue Head Football Coach Joe Tiller offered his time and stories to help raise funds for cancer research and leadership scholarships at an event in Purdue’s Krannert School of Management on October 10 in anticipation of Purdue’s “Hammer Down Cancer” game the followng day against Michigan State.

The football-oriented event featured story telling, a Q&A and discussions on many topics in auditorium sessions with emcees Nate Barrett and Tim Newton.

In the drawing room, between auditorium sessions, Tiller posed for pictures with fans and the 2000 Big Ten Trophy. The event additionally included a silent auction, games, contests, prizes, and snacks.

Proceeds benefited Purdue’s Center for Cancer Research and to the scholarship fund of the National Football Foundation’s Joe Tiller Chapter of Northwest Indiana.
